AI translation guidelines let you customize how your website is translated. Instead of using the default translation style, you can provide instructions for each language, helping AI produce translations that match your brand voice and terminology.
You can use translation guidelines to specify tone of voice (formal, casual, friendly, etc.), preferred forms of address, some brand terminology or product names that shouldn't be translated, and more.
Adding translation guidelines
- In the editor, click Pages to open the Page manager.
- Click the three dots icon near the target page and select Translate to... from the dropdown menu.
- In the Translate pages dialog, add more pages if needed and select a language.
- Enable Translate with AI checkbox and click Yola AI – Translation guidelines.
- In the new dialog enter your translation instructions.
- Repeat for additional languages if needed.
- Click Submit to start the translation.
The AI will use your guidelines when translating pages into the selected language.
Notes
- Translation guidelines are configured separately for each language.
- Existing guidelines remain available even if the corresponding language is later removed from your website.
- Translation guidelines are only applied when Translate with AI is enabled.
