Subtitles are short messages that can help you describe products better, increase the conversion rate, and get more orders. You can highlight important information in this field:
- Promotions
- Product target audience
- Featured ingredients (this option is especially useful for restaurants)
- Free shipping, and more
You can add subtitles to your product titles to give customers more information about product benefits or special offers. Subtitles will appear in the product list and on the product details page.
Note: You may need to upgrade your Online Store plan to access this feature.
Adding a subtitle to a product
- In your Online Store dashboard, go to Catalog > Products.
- Navigate to the product and click Edit.
- On a product detail page, scroll down to the Add product subtitle field and click on it.
- Enter the subtitle for your product.
- Click Save.
Now your customers see the subtitle both on the storefront and on the product details page.
Note: Your subtitles text is searchable. For example, if your customers search for products using the phrase Free Shipping in your store, they will see all the products that you've "tagged" with the Free Shipping subtitle in the search results.
Translating your subtitles
You can provide subtitles in different languages if you have enabled additional Online Store languages. The translation field will be located under the original subtitle field. If you leave translation fields empty, the subtitles will be shown in your store’s default language.
Choosing how to display subtitles on the product list
By default, subtitles are displayed on your product list as always visible text. You can choose to display short descriptions only if your customer hovers a mouse over the product image in the grid. Here’s how to customize the appearance of your subtitles:
- In your Online Store dashboard, go to Design.
- Scroll down to Product Card details and layout.
- In the Product subtitle drop-down menu choose Show or Show on mouse hover.
- The changes will be autosaved.
Choosing where to display subtitles in your store
By default, subtitles are displayed both on your product list and on your product details page. You can choose to display them only on the storefront or only on the product details page.
To turn off subtitles on the product details page:
- In your Online Store dashboard, go to Design.
- Scroll to the Product Page layout section.
- In the Sidebar section, find and untick the Product subtitle checkbox.
- The changes will be autosaved.
To stop showing subtitles on your storefront choose Do not show in the corresponding Product Card details and layout section on the Design page.
