You cannot change the subdomain which was assigned to your website upon publishing. It is for this reason that we recommend giving your website a unique and relevant name before publishing your site for the first time.
Tip: If your website is named “website”, for example, Sitebuilder will generate a subdomain such as “website1.yolasite.com” or containing another number which depends on how many other websites there are with the same name in the system.
To customize your website name, go to the Website menu, click Settings in the drop-down menu, and add a website name.
If you want to rename the domain, you have an option to purchase a custom domain. There are two ways you can do that.
Get a custom domain in My Yola
- Go to the My Yola dashboard and click on the Domains tab at the top of the page.
- Click on the Add a new domain link.
- You can now search the list of registered domains to establish whether the domain you wish to register is available for use. If your desired domain name is unavailable, please consider one of the alternatives suggested or try searching for a different domain name.
- Once you find a domain name you like, click the Continue button. From here you can enter your payment information and choose the duration of ownership until expiry.
Get a custom domain after publishing
You can also access the domain search service after you have clicked the Publish button within the Sitebuilder.
To start the domain registration process, click on the Get your domain button:
Finally, complete the domain name selection process and the payment steps as described above.
