Your Page Settings can be optimized to improve your website's visibility in search engines. Search engine optimization (SEO) of your Page Settings helps search engines understand what your page is about, so it can be displayed in response to someone's search query. The more relevant the content is to the query, the higher your page will be displayed on search engine result pages (SERPs).
What is SEO
Search engine optimization (SEO) is the practice of improving search engine ranking by adding content and other information that search engines prioritize when responding to search queries. This helps generate "organic" or unpaid traffic from search engines. The more consistent effort you put into SEO, the better your website ranks in search results.
Adding SEO details
You can add a search-engine-friendly title, description, and tags to each page of your website. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Navigate to the Website > Pages... menu. Choose the page of which you would like to edit the details and click on the "gear" Settings icon.
2. Enter the following details:
Page title: enter the text you would like to display on the search engine results page (SERP). The title has to provide an accurate and informative description of the page's content. Use the main target keywords in your title. In this example, an SEO page title could be Unicorn Apparel and Gifts.
Tip: Do not add any special characters (including /, | and &) to the title, because some search engines can truncate the text following the special character.
Page description: enter the text that provides a brief summary of your page. The length of the description should be between 50–160 characters. Add your keywords in a natural way and create a compelling meta description to encourage your potential visitor to click on/onto. Each page should have its own unique meta description.
Tip: remove all non-alphanumeric characters, including quotation marks, from your meta descriptions.
Meta keywords: also known as meta tags. These words give search engines additional information about their sites. While not influencing your page's position in SERP, meta keywords support the title and description importance with the right keywords. Use 5-7 keywords in this area.
Tip: avoid spamming or abusing the meta tags field because hundreds of meta keywords will not help you rank higher on SERP.
Once you are done adding title, description, and keywords, click Submit to confirm changes.
