Starting from scratch allows you to build a website from a completely blank page and take full control over every detail from the start.
It’s an ideal choice for those who have a clear design in mind or want the creative freedom to experiment with custom structures. Every element – from individual blocks to entire pages – can be added and arranged according to your specific needs.
Step 1. What kind of website do you want to create?
At the first step, you can specify a category or niche for your site. Choose one of the examples or start typing the kind of website you would like to create.
Note: If your website is of a rare niche, and you can’t find the exact match in the list, you can opt out of this step by clicking Skip at the top right corner of the screen.
Once you are done, click Continue.
Step 2. How do you want to create your website?
Select the Start from scratch option to take complete control of your website’s design and content from the very beginning.
Step 3. Let’s fill in some basic information
In the onboarding sequence, you can enter your website name if you already have one. The Wizard offers you a default site name based on the name you entered during registration. You can change it or leave it as is and click Continue. Also, you can change the website language in this step.
Note: The website name is not your site address, and you can change it later if needed. This name is for your website identification in the My Yola dashboard if you want to build more than one website.
Sitebuilder
After completing the above steps, you will be redirected to the Sitebuilder. Check out the video tutorial about how to create a website from scratch.
Important: The first block of your choice will be automatically added along with the header and footer, so there’s no need to add them manually.
Note: Even if you opt for building your site manually, you can still take advantage of the AI feature for generating pages and any textual content.
