Let your visitors attach a file to the contact form

Adding files to a contact form is a useful feature for both website owners and visitors. You can easily receive important documents like resumes or project proposals from your visitors. And for visitors, attaching supporting files or images helps provide more details about their inquiry. This feature makes communication smoother and more efficient for everyone involved.

The attachment functionality can be enabled by using the Forms block or any other block with the form. You can add it to an existing page or create a new page and add it to the navigation for easy access, and then add a Forms block to it.

What kinds of files can be attached

This feature allows for attaching 

• Images with the extensions .bmp, .gif, .heic, .heif, .jfi, .jfif, .jpe, .jpeg, .jpg, .png, .tif, .tiff, .webp.
• Documents with the extensions .ai, .cdr, .csv, .doc, .docb, .docx, .dot, .dotx, .dwg, .eps, .epub, .fla, .gpx, .ical, .icalendar, .ics, .ifb, .indd, .ipynb, .key, .kml, .kmz, .mobi, .mtf, .mtx, .numbers, .odg, .odp, .ods, .odt, .otp, .ots, .ott, .oxps, .pages, .pdf, .pdn, .pkg, .pot, .potx, .pps, .ppsx, .ppt, .pptx, .psd, .pub, .rtf, .sldx, .txt, .vcf, .xcf, .xls, .xlsx, .xlt, .xltx, .xlw, .xps.
• Videos with the extensions .3gp, .avi, .divx, .flv, .m1v, .m2ts, .m4v, .mkv, .mov, .mp4, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mxf, .ogv, .vob, .webm, .wmv, .xvid.
• Audio files with the extensions .aac, .aif, .aiff, .flac, .m4a, .mp3, .wav, .wma.

The maximum file size is 25 MB.

Adding an attach a file option to your form

1. After you’ve added the Form block to your site (or any other block containing a form), click the form to open Form settings. (If you’ve added a form widget in the Custom block, click the form and then the Form settings button on its control pane).
2. In the General tab, you will find the following fields: Name, E-mail, and Message. (You can customize them by following the Forms block tutorial.) Click the blue Plus (+) button to start adding a new field.
   
   
3. In the Add new item window, choose Attach file from the list of items.
   
   
   
4. Then, fill in the Label and the Button text fields since they are required ones. Here, you can also choose a supported file type (image, document, video, audio, or all types), pick the allowed number of files, and tick the Make required checkbox for this field. Click Submit.
   
   
5. Click Submit in the Forms settings window and publish your website to make the changes live.
